PAIN MANAGEMENT & WELLBEING SPECIALISTS

What is Bowen

The Bowen Fascial Release Technique is a soft tissue therapy which is very gentle.  It consists of a series of moves across muscles, tendons and other soft tissue.  The therapist uses their thumbs or fingers on specific areas of the body applying very gentle pressure to give movement to the tissue.  The majority of the moves can be performed through light clothing such as t shirt or leggings.

There is no strong manipulation, adjustment or deep or prolonged pressure on the body.  We do not use oils and this is not a massage.

Where does the technique come from?

The technique was developed by Tom Bowen who was an Australian.  It would appear that he began to help people at work with small and simple
moves whenever they had aches and pains.   He became so popular that he then began treating people from his home , gave up his main day job and started treating people full time.    The Bowen Technique was first taught in the UK in 1993 and since then has become well established as a Complimentary Therapy all over the UK and Europe.

What can Bowen help with?

The Bowen Technique does not treat specific conditions but as the treatment covers the whole body it would follow that any condition within the body would be addressed.  Back pain is a common complaint that individuals seek out Bowen to help as are frozen shoulders, neck pain, hayfever, asthma and migraines.  Sportsmen and women also find the treatments helpful and report fewer injuries when treated regularly and also notice an increase in performance.
